Published by the well-regarded Model Art publishing house, this very recently published book presents Japan’s most famous World War II fighter in large-format glory and features nicely-selected color photographs of surviving Zero fighters at New Zealand’s Auckland War Memorial Museum, the RAF Museum at Cosford in the UK, London’s Imperial War Museum, and the US Planes of Fame Air Museum.  These photographs are then supplemented with black and white photographs from the Second World War. All variants of the Zero are covered ranging from the prototype to late-war models. Some of the photographs are common; others will be new to Western readers. As usual from Model Art Publications, there is lots of detail on the mechanical aspects such as the landing gear of the ZERO.  Text is in Japanese but the advanced IJN aircraft modeler will find this publication both inspiring and useful.
